Manager of the Pays Tarusate’s social center until May, Pascale Lasserre-Sergent has had several professional experiences: "I was a nurse, operating room nurse, health manager, teacher, manager of a medical-social structure".
For her, taking the lead of the Village Landais Alzheimer "a very beautiful and innovative project" is "another challenge, the opportunity to make a state of play, to conduct investigations, to train professionals ..."
It is an aspect that interest her particularly. Graduated in 2008 from a Master Degree in Medical and Medico-Social Organizations at Isped (Bordeaux), she acquired a research specialization, the driving force of the Village Landais Alzheimer experimentation strategy. This is an essential aspect of the executive director’s tasks.
"The difficulty in medico-social institutions is that there is a strong health presence marked with caregivers, nurses and the caregiver approach sometimes dominates to the detriment of educational support", explains the former director of the communitarian retirement home of Souprosse, Ehpad des 5 rivières. Pascale Lasserre-Sergent believes that, in practice, "we must be able to give ourselves flexibility".
In the Village, Pascale Lasserre-Sergent will supervise the medico-social staff (doctors, nurses, gerontological care assistants, psychologist, ergonomic designer, psychomotrician, animators ...), the administrative staff (management, accounting,...) and the professionals in charge of general services (restoration, maintenance) which will accompany the 120 residents.
For the first director of this new establishment, it is understandable that "the presence of volunteers can be worrying, because they do not have the same professional culture, not the same language ... but having a different vision and perception of the approach is beneficial for the adult who will be accompanied in the Village Landais Alzheimer".
The Village Landais Alzheimer, a unique institution in France, will be "a place where everyone will be communicating and sharing: everyone will feed the pool experience, in everyone’s benefit, residents, caregivers, volunteers and professionals".
